Occupational Safety and Health Initiatives

Basic Philosophy
we are committed to maintaining the safety and health of our employees, and to preventing disasters and accidents, based on the philosophy of respecting human life.

Safety and Health Management System
We hold a monthly safety and health committee to report on and discuss safety and health activities, decide on improvement measures, and plan and discuss matters related to preventing the recurrence of disasters and accidents. We have also established a self-defense firefighting organization and have put in place a system to smoothly carry out initial action and first aid in the event of a fire, earthquake, or other disaster.

Main activities
In addition to daily safety and health activities, various events are held every year during the “National Safety Week” and “National Occupational Health Week” to raise awareness of safety and health and promote safety and health activities in the workplace. In addition, we are also involved in the “Traffic Safety Campaign” four times a year to raise awareness of road safety.

  • We appoint general safety and health managers, safety managers, health managers, chemical substance managers, protective equipment managers, and operations chiefs (organic solvent operations chief, specific chemical substance and tetra-alkyl lead operations chief, boiler operation chief, Class 1 pressure vessel operations chief, and radiation protection chief as stipulated by the Nuclear Regulation Authority) as stipulated in the Industrial Safety and Health Act, and have established a safety and health committee.

  • We appoint fire prevention managers as stipulated in the Fire Service Act, set up a self-defense firefighting organization, and appoint safe driving managers as stipulated in the Road Traffic Act.
  • We appoint hazardous materials safety supervisors and notify the Chikuma Sakaki Fire Department.
  • We appoint toxic and deleterious substance handling managers as stipulated in the Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Act and notify the Nagano Prefecture Pharmaceutical Affairs Management Division.
  • We install static electricity removal pads and static electricity removal mats to prevent static electricity fires, install local exhaust ventilation systems to ensure a safe working environment, and ensure that protective equipment is worn by protective equipment managers.
  • We strive to eliminate traffic accidents on the premises by having all vehicles, not only company vehicles but also external vehicles, abide by the 10km/h speed limit.
    When operating forklifts on the premises, we provide education and ensure that drivers comply with the following:

1) Always wearing a helmet
2) Driving speed must be 10km/h or less
3) Engine must be turned off when parking or stopping
4) Always check for safety in blind spots
5) Always stop at a complete stop
6) When transporting loads that obstruct forward visibility, reverse whenever possible

  • Since 2003, we have been a member of the Chikuma Sakaki Hazardous Materials Fire Prevention Management Association, and we provide training on the handling of hazardous materials and strive to prevent disasters such as fires and accidents caused by the management of fire-prevention objects.

  • In 2003, we were awarded a sign and a certificate of commendation stating that we are an excellent hazardous materials handling business by the Nagano Prefecture Hazardous Materials Safety Association, a general incorporated association.
  • At workplaces where vehicles are driven, we appoint a safe driving manager and conduct alcohol checks on drivers using breathalyzers to check for alcohol intake.
  • We drill disaster prevention training, firefighting training, and emergency rescue training (participation in AED [Automated External Defibrillator] training sessions)
